what is picking in logistics?
There are two robotic ways to eliminate the kilometers. The first keeps the person still and brings the goods to them: the goods-to-person model of the Geek+ P-Series, direct heir of the Kiva robots. The second keeps the goods still and accompanies the person: the collaborative AMR like the Locus Origin, which walks the aisles for the picker and waits at the next location.
Which one fits depends on volume, space and budget; the differences, numbers and verdicts included, are in our warehouse-AMR comparison. The classic mistake is measuring picking by robot speed: what matters is order lines per person-hour, the metric where well-chosen systems double or triple productivity.
