what is a cobot?
The word was born for factory arms, but the idea (sharing space with humans without physical guarding) is now the frontier of all robotics. Warehouse AMRs like the Locus Origin are mobile cobots: they move among workers instead of behind a fence, and that coexistence is exactly what separates them from the caged AGVs of the previous generation.
Collaboration is paid for in force and speed: a cobot usually moves less load, more slowly, than its caged equivalent, because its priority is not hurting anyone. So the right buying question isn't 'how much does it lift?' but 'which safety standard does it meet, and at what speed?'. How that logic plays out in a real warehouse is in the logistics robotics guide.
