For journalists and producers
Bio in three lengths. What I can and cannot claim. What I have published.
Short bio (50 words)
Sebastián Ocampo builds AI systems for organisations and writes about what goes wrong after deployment. Nine systems in production. Four years of maintenance. Based in Suisse romande.
Medium bio (100 words)
Sebastián Ocampo builds and maintains AI systems for organisations, primarily in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. He documents what he learns in a weekly letter and in post-incident reviews that name the systems they describe. His work focuses on the gap between AI demonstrations and production: the infrastructure costs, the governance gaps, and the measurement problems that only appear after launch. He advises a small number of executive teams on AI decisions and runs workshops for organisations at the beginning of that decision.
What I will claim
That AI systems in production behave differently from AI systems in demonstrations. That the cost of maintaining an AI system is typically underestimated. That governance structures that cannot say no are not governance structures.
What I will not claim
That AI will replace any specific profession. That any specific model is the best. That the next eighteen months will look a particular way.
